OUR RICH HISTORY
The SPARC family of companies have roots in early cannabis regulation, reaching as far back as 1998 when CA Proposition 215 was passed, making medical cannabis available to those with a doctor’s recommendation. After years of growing and distributing with our collective, the first SPARC retail facility opened in 2010 at 1256 Mission Street in San Francisco and was immediately lauded for quality of service, wide selection of product, and the stunning design of the facility. Shortly afterwards SPARC opened two of the first legally permitted, commercial-scale cultivation facilities in SF, committed to bringing quality product to our customers at affordable prices. In 2015 SPARC merged with Peace in Medicine, another highly respected industry peer with two retail facilities in Sonoma County, known for top-tier professionalism and educational customer experience. Recently in 2016 we opened our newest retail facility in San Francisco’s historic Lower Haight neighborhood and we are currently working to acquire permitting to build a new, state-of-the-art, sustainable greenhouse cannabis estates in Sonoma County’s lush wine country with both Biodymanic and fully organic plots.

SPARC cultivates the vast majority of its own medicine with the expert member-cultivators on staff. Our team uses sustainable growing techniques to bring out the best qualities of the plant. We
oversee the production of most of our medicine from seed to harvest to packaging. Our aim is to provide consistent high-grade cannabis our members can rely on. We focus on bringing out the
unique medicinal qualities of each strain that we offer. We constantly work to increase our knowledge of new cultivation techniques and innovations, and we work with our members to ensure this
knowledge finds its way into higher quality medicine. Because we oversee much of our own production, we can offer more affordable prices to our patients on medicine we have produced in-house.
SPARC is one of the few dispensaries in California to have ALL of its medicine tested to ensure safety and quality. It is vitally important to ensure that there is no trace of mold, pathogens or pesticides in any cannabis
that is provided for patient members. Quality is usually determined by the amount of symptom relief that a medicine provides and the reliability of the medicine to produce the desired effect. Not
only do we measure the amount of THC in each strain we offer, but using standard analytical techniques, we can assay for the presence of other therapeutically significant cannabinoids such as
cannabidiol (CBD). Our packaging lists the percentage of THC, CBD, and CBN concentrations for each strain, allowing our members to select the right medicine for their health needs. Our long-term
aim is to develop a more scientific approach that includes the possibility of documenting and researching which plant variations and horticultural practices can be combined to maximize the
healing qualities of specific strains.
